Martha is a former REstart graduate. Read the incredible story about where her and her daughter are today. “We owe it all to REstart” I would like to start by saying never give up on your dreams because one day you will tell your story of how you overcame what you went through and it will be someone else’s survival guide. Since the age of 7 my daughter has dreamed of attending law school. Well in this journey, life can sometimes knock you down. When that happens, you must “Get Up” and you have to believe in yourself. Nobody said it would be easy! I am a single mom so when I lost my job we fell to a real low point in life. I found myself homeless and on welfare, I became depressed and began drinking to escape the guilt and shame. As a result, my daughter was taken into CPS custody. I felt like my life was over.

The truth is that a champion is defined by how they recover when they fall. It was flight or fight and the only hope I could see for putting our lives hack together was to go into a residential rehabilitation program. The good news is that while I was in that program I was introduced to REstart. Upon graduation my daughter and I were reunited and I had a new career in property management which included housing and so much more. Thanks to REstart we had our life back, “Today” I am a licensed realtor with an amazing job working for a Property Management/Investment Company. “Today” my daughter currently has a BS in Computer Science & Business and will further her education this fall by attending The University of California, Berkeley Law to fulfilling her dream of becoming a patent attorney.

REstart is an amazing program that provides individuals with the opportunity to restart, rebuild and restore a foundation in life during a difficult time. Because of the non-profit status, this program is totally dependent on the support and donations from caring donors like you. We are counting on your contributions to help provide the tools needed to make a difference and change the lives of the students who are participating in the REstart class of 2021. This is a win-win situation, and the rewards are priceless.
