The generosity of one company reminds us that placing the welfare of our communities at the forefront of our minds can start with a small conversation. In the spirit of the holiday season, Shorenstein Realty Services, L.P. decided to allocate funds originally earmarked for its Sorrento Towers’ tenant holiday party to a generous donation benefitting the REstart San Diego affiliate. While the company could have realized a savings after having to cancel holiday events, Shorenstein decided to use those funds to assist the communities where they own properties across the nation.
Shorenstein, as a company, values education and is a sustained contributor to non-profits in San Francisco, where the company is headquartered. In San Diego, Stacy Kurko, the Property Manager for Shorenstein, was charged with finding an organization that matched the company’s values. After a conversation between colleagues discussing REstart’s program, she realized that a perfect match was made. Stacy recommended REstart San Diego to her executive team for the donation. The executive team was impressed with the mission of the organization and decided to double the initial ask. A very generous gift of $5,000 was made.
